Our Philosophy

“Play is the highest form of research.”

Albert Einstein

Dogwood Lane Children’s Academy offers programs to children six weeks to five years of age. We believe in educating the whole child, paying special attention to each child’s physical, personal, social, and emotional well-being, and that a curriculum rich and sensory experiences is the best way to achieve success.

Our students have the opportunity to work one on one with our curriculum team. This exclusive attention ensures that each child is pushed to their highest level of success. We don’t believe in rushing children, but we believe in encouraging them to always strive for the next level. This one on one attention allows us to adapt the curriculum so it is best suited for each child’s specific needs.

Children thrive and learn best when they are in a relaxed environment, therefore, our facility is designed to be a home away from home, where a child can feel safe and loved, and learning can occur instinctively.

Cognitive connections happen through investigating the community and the natural world, and at Dogwood Lane Children’s Academy, or environment lends itself to helping children learn the best way they can… naturally. Whether it’s through tending to our garden to enhance our nutritious meal program, or conducting a science experiment on our playground, Dogwood Lane Children’s Academy is always determined to never miss a chance to learn.

Curriculum

It is our mission to prepare our students to succeed in today’s world. Using the creative curriculum as our framework, we are able to focus on 21st-century learning. This means we emphasize the “4 C’s”; Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. Every lesson is planned with these concepts in mind. We believe in the importance of family engagement in early learning, therefore we communicate what is happening in the classroom with our families so we can all be on the same page, and the maximum amount of learning can occur. Parents receive weekly academic updates and log in to see daily pictures and videos of their child’s day.

Heavily influenced by the Montessori method and the Reggio Emilia approach, we use our extra large classrooms to take a hands-on approach to engage students in experiments, risk-taking, discussion, and critical thinking. Through project-based learning, we are helping mold our students into innovators, collaborators, and problem solvers.

At Dogwood Lane, we believe that one on one attention is critical and every child’s development on journey. That is why we have created a program to ensure that each child is able to work individually with a teacher. Our “curriculum army” works passionately to constantly create new one on one lessons for students to learn from. This enables us to push each child to their absolute potential. You won’t find this kind of attention anywhere else!
